"Home of the Flying Eagles"
The weather in Ushuaia clearly tells us we are at the bottom of the world. The city’s claim to be the most southern city in the world came with a 50 degree temperature. It is at the south part of the island of Tierra del Fuego. After two days of this small city, originally a penal colony, we begin our 5 day ship cruise by going further south to Cape Horn. I learn that the monument we climb up to see is dedicated to the 800 recorded ships that had sunk where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Pacific. I am getting way too old to have to climb this far, but it will be a permanent joy in my memory.
