Susan L. Shaw

ST. ALBANS - Mrs. Susan Lowe Shaw, 49, died Friday, Oct. 13, at her home following a long illness.

Born August 3, 1940 at Stirrat, she was the daughter of Sarah Ann Dower Lowe of St. Albans, formerly of Beckley and the late Benjamin F. Lowe Sr.

Mrs. Shaw was employed by the Kanawha County Board of Education, was a kindergarten teacher at the Wiemer Elementary School, member of the First Baptist Church of St. Albans, a graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College and West Virginia State College, was director of the preschool program at the First Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher

She was a volunteer of the American Red Cross and the Literacy and Adult Children Program, was a member of the West Virginia Association of Young Children, the Southern Association of Children Under Six, the National Association of Education of Young Children and the Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society in Education.

Other survivors include her husband, Wesley J. Shaw III; three daughters,Dawna E. Freeman of Fairfield, Ohio and Vonda R. Shaw, student at Marshall University and Christi L. Shaw, student at the University of Kentucky; a sister, June Mueller of Fortville, Ind., and a brother, Bejamin F. Lowe Jr. of Lexington, Ky.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Bartlett Funeral Home in St. Albans with the Rev. Dr. S. Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Cunningham Memorial Park at St. Albans.

Friends may call Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
