Mainard F. Hicks

Mainard F. Hicks, 65, of Grafton, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at his home after a long illness.

Born in Hinton, W.Va., he lived in the Grafton area most of his life.

Mr. Hicks owned and operated Mainard Hicks Insurance Agency in Lorain for 12 years, retiring in 1995. He formerly worked as a sales manager at WOBL in Oberlin and was a veteran of the Army. He was a member of the Elyria Elks Lodge 465.

He enjoyed golf, bowling and competitive league play in both sports.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Linda Hicks; a daughter, Coleen Brennan of Olmsted Falls; sons Dion and Steve Hicks, both of Elyria; a stepdaughter, Courtney Miller of Grafton; a stepson David Hawke of Elyria; 10 grandchildren; sisters Imogene Monazzi of Richmond, Va., and Linda Vega of Houston, Texas; and a brother, Dorse Hicks of Beckley, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austeen Hicks and Lorraine Hazelgrove.

Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria, where services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Elyria, will officiate.

Burial will be in LaPorte Cemetery, Carlisle Township.
