"Old times there are not forgotten"
If you look up the word educator in the dictionary, don't be surprised if you find a picture of our classmate, Dr. Franklin Davis Heatherly. Following our high school years - Frank got a degree in liberal arts from Concord College, a masters and then a doctrate from the University of Alabama, taught school in a classroom, became a school principal, an assistant superintendant of schools, a superintendant of schools and then became employed by the Alabama State Department of Education. In his spare time he teaches in foreigh countries.
Recently, I learned that Frank accepted a return engagement to Yambian University in northeast China as a visiting professor. Frank will be in China - June until mid-August, 2005. Frank shared with me that in addition to his education credentials, he is an excellent photographer. At that point, he offered to send us some reports from China about his work there, what he sees that impresses him and hopefully some pictures. We will post whatever Frank can provide us with in the hope of somehow sharing in his experience.
We will leave Frank's letters, pictures and so forth on our web site for a while in order that many of us can observe what one of our most ambitious and talented, yet modest classmates is accomplishing on the other side of the world.
